HIMSS16 Wrap Up: Key Takeaways

HIMSS never ceases to amaze. It is the largest Healthcare IT conference of its kind with over 40,000 people in attendance and close to 500 vendors in exhibit. Las Vegas was a huge draw, of course, but what really impresses is the scale of the show and the amount of information available. From scheduled symposia to in-booth demonstrations, the amount of information to sift through is staggering.

We received a lot of questions focused on how we achieve HIPAA Compliance, as that was the primary focus of our exhibit at the event. It still staggers me to hear about the services customers receive (or don’t receive) from their “HIPAA Compliant Hosting” providers, so we talked a lot about what HIPAA Compliance means to Connectria. In addition to undergoing our annual HIPAA/HITECH Assessment by a third party, we have developed our own HIPAA Compliance Support Plan which is a comprehensive set of security and support features designed to assist you with getting HIPAA Compliant. With most providers, these services are an extra fee and greatly increase the cost of the environment, but Connectria includes it as a complete HIPAA Compliance solution.

One of the great things about HIMSS is that we get a chance to see our customers. One of our customers, SecureAuth, was part of the CyberSecurity Command Center, one of the specialty exhibit areas on the HIMSS Show Floor. SecureAuth provides industry-leading, adaptive and customizable Two-Factor Authentication solutions and they gave us some great feedback on our HIPAA Compliant Services. “It’s great to find a company like Connectria who truly understands what it means and what is required to achieve HIPAA compliance. They make it simple for us and don’t nickel and dime for every included service. Working with them feels like a true partnership.”

The event was a great success and we got to speak with a lot of great organizations about our HIPAA Compliant Hosting, also available on AWS. We can’t wait for next year’s conference in sunny Orlando, Florida. Hope to see you there!
