Getting the Most (Compliance) Out of Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Companies are increasingly moving to Amazon Web Services (AWS) for many reasons, including cost savings, flexibility and speed. While this makes great business sense, there is some confusion over what services AWS provides in terms of management, support, and especially compliance. We want to shed some light on the situation for those thinking about migrating to AWS, or for those already there.

A simple point of clarity is around compliance, specifically HIPAA compliance on AWS. AWS has HIPAA-eligible services. That’s not to be confused, however, with HIPAA compliance. Maintaining a HIPAA compliant infrastructure requires that the business owner maintain the documentation, processes and audits necessary to achieve and retain HIPAA compliance. With something like HIPAA or even PCI regulations, this can involve a significant amount of work that can distract a business owner or manager from the core competencies around running the actual business.

An alternative solution is to work with an audited managed service provider, like Connectria. Our engineers are trained and prepared to provide 24/7 managed support for any AWS infrastructure scenario. We have the skills and experience that will provide the SLA’s required and potentially lower costs for businesses running in AWS. This stems from leveraging best-practices and utilizing automation as part of our own core business, while freeing up your business to focus on what’s most strategic.

At Connectria, we take AWS managed services seriously. Not only have we achieved our AWS Managed Service Partnership (MSP) certification, but we have also attained our AWS Healthcare Competency. Of the thousands of AWS partners, only a small handful have achieved MSP Healthcare status. This designation was achieved through completion of a stringent, on-site, third-party validation audit, addressing everything from architecture to support of environments on AWS. Certified MSPs are proactive and competent in cloud infrastructure, migration, monitoring, automation, and on-going management.

Whether you’re considering migrating to AWS or currently using AWS but struggling with support and/or resource constraints (or somewhere in between), we’d love to talk to you. We can help brainstorm how partnering with an Audited AWS Managed Services Partner with our Healthcare Competency can save you money and help you focus on what matters: your business.

As always, please contact us. We’ll be happy to help and answer any questions you have.
