IT Confessional: 1 Out Of 3 IT Professionals Surveyed At Amazon re:Invent Not Aware Of Their Vendor’s Security Practices
In a year of high-profile data breaches, survey results from attendees at Amazon re:Invent conference highlight the need for AWS users to select IT vendors with stringent security practices
ST. LOUIS, MO. (December 4, 2014) – St. Louis-based Connectria Hosting, a world leader in hosting customers in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the founder of the No Jerks Allowed® movement, today announced the findings of a survey conducted at this year’s AWS re:Invent conference.
Connectria randomly asked more than 100 AWS re:Invent attendees about a number of security practices. 1 out of 3 respondents said they were not familiar with their vendor’s security practices. As AWS customers leverage more service providers to support their Amazon Web Services environments, these findings indicate a critical need to leverage AWS service providers like Connectria with proven, stringent security practices that continually protect their AWS environments from data breaches.
The reasons most often cited for a lack of security oversight included:
- Lack of time to review them (33 percent)
- Lack of resources to review them (30 percent)
- Respondents felt confident about their vendors’ security policies (22 percent)
- Respondents felt confident about their own security policies (19 percent)
