Park University Selects Connectria Hosting for a Citrix VDI Solution
St. Louis, MO (August 28, 2013) - Park University turned to Connectria for a Hosted Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution, which enabled them to provide students with easy access to their course applications--all centrally managed by the university’s IT team.
Initially, Park University was working with a number of major technology vendors on this solution, but no provider was able to deliver an all-encompassing service without outsourcing part of the work to a 3rd party. Timing proved to be a challenge as well. With the new school year just around the corner, this project had to be completed in less than 3 weeks.
This is when Park University contacted Connectria, who was able to meet the requirements set. Connectria’s hosted Citrix solution enabled Park University’s IT team to manage their application remotely, bringing on students through an active directory mirrored to a hosted active directory. Some of the published applications included the Microsoft Office Suite and various course specific applications such as science lab apps. This project was successfully completed prior to the start of the school year.
The ability to deliver applications from a centralized location was a perfect fit for Park University. As its user base will continually change, IT admins will be able easily remove access and create new users on the fly.
Traditionally, Park University had to send out CDs to each student with all the applications they needed on them. This has been a common practice in education for years. Over the last several years, this industry has been undergoing a transformation as cloud computing becomes more mainstream while costs continue to rise. Connectria was able to position Park University as a technology leader while providing real cost savings to the organization and its students.
