IBM Taps Connectria As First Partner For Lotus Pathware Hosting
American Airlines Among the First Clients to Contract for Hosted Pathware
ST. LOUIS, MO (September 15, 2000) - IBM has selected Connectria, a
St. Louis-based Hosting Provider and Lotus Advanced
Business Partner, as the first company to offer
Lotus Pathware application hosting which Lotus acquired from Macromedia
Corporation last year. Among the first clients contracting for hosted Pathware is one of IBM's flagship accounts -
American Airlines - a Fortune 100 corporation requiring swift delivery of the application for thousands of initial users who
will utilize the company's online training courses. The selection marks the first time Lotus IBM has teamed with a hosting
firm to deliver Pathware as an online service, an option that both companies expect will become exceedingly popular for
large and small clients in both the corporate and academic sector.
Connectria, which provides
hosting services for Lotus Notes, Domino, LearningSpace and other Lotus products, believes the
addition of Pathware fully complements its suite of hosted offerings. "When combined, these products anticipate the needs of
anyone building online curricula and conducting Web-based training," noted Richard Waidmann, president and CEO of Connectria.
"While Pathware lets you create rich interactive content, Learning Space provides the tools to create the structure to conduct
classroom business, such as handing out assignments, communicating with students, posting grades, and administering tests and
quizzes," he explained.
"Whether the objective is to deliver individualized learning through self-directed, self-study courses or you're trying to
create a collaborative learning environment for a group, we have the applications to accomplish your goals via the Web,"
added Eric Miller, Connectria vice president. Waidmann says he expects to see clients ranging in size from the small to
the very largest of corporations because a hosting provider brings applications to users with faster speed and lower
cost -advantages that are important across the board.
